Festus is a tax partner at ABMAK and is admitted to practice law in Uganda and in the State of New York (US)
Festus is a tax lawyer specialising in domestic and international tax
advisory and structuring for large infrastructure projects.
Festus holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Taxation from
New York University, where he was a Hauser Global Scholar, a merit
scholarship awarded to outstanding LL.M candidates. He also holds a
Bachelor of Laws (Honours) first class from Makerere University. He
was awarded the Chief Justice’s prize for best student at the Law
Development Centre.
He is enrolled as an advocate in Uganda and on the State of New York
bar (US). He has also appeared as an expert witness on Ugandan tax
law at the London Commercial Court in the United Kingdom.
He has previously been an expert advisor and trainer on tax law and
policy for the Uganda Revenue Authority, the Ministry of Finance of
the Republic of Liberia, and an expert tax reform consultant for the
Republic of Somaliland. He has also previously been a guest lecturer of
international tax and policy at the Vienna University of Economics and
Business in Rust, Austria and at Duke University’s Sanford School of
Public Policy.
